Different people certainly have differing opinions as to the subject of whether or not to wear an undershirt. Personally, sometimes I do, sometimes I do not. In the colder months it often is a good idea to wear an undershirt under a sweater to (a) mitigate the itchiness of some fabrics and, more importantly (b) reduce the need to wash them which shortens the life of most knitwear. Thus, it’s a good idea to at least have some undershirts in your arsenal.
Years ago I bought my undershirts from Uniqlo — I particularly liked their “Airism” line. This winter, though, I needed some new ones after all those years, and went on the hunt. I tried from several brands that shall remain nameless for the purposes of this post. I tested undershirts from $10 all the way up to $60. I must say — Uniqlo still remains the king. Their line of Airism undershirts are, to my mind, the undisputed champions of the undershirt world.
They fit well, they last a really long time, and they are super comfortable. The Airism fabric that Uniqlo touts as being so amazing actually is that amazing. It’s stretchy and breathable, yet still feels like a regular undershirt (though they do make some that are even more “technical” if you are so inclined; sometimes I am). If you are looking for that extra layer this season, you don’t need to look beyond, nor spend more than, Uniqlo. Trust me.
