I can’t recall exactly when or why it started, but I have been on the hunt for a pair of jogger-style, cream/off-white linen pants for a while now. To my mind, they make a truly perfect summer trouser, easily paired with a tee, polo, knitwear, or perhaps even more dressy options up top. If the pants had a bit of stretch woven in, that was a bonus.
Despite searching just about everywhere, I actually could find almost zero even potential options. Until, on a whim, I checked Abercrombie (which has vastly, vastly improved their offerings in the last year or two). To my delight, they had a couple of options. After ordering them all in various sizes, and putting them through the paces, my favorite by far is the “Linen Blend Pull On Pant” in “Light Brown.” It is pretty much exactly what I had always wanted.
It’s lightweight, stretchy, extremely comfortables, and has a cool elastic waistband. The color is perfect. The length and fit is perfect as well, being neither too slim nor too loose; not too long nor too short (though hemming is always an option, and there is actually plenty of extra fabric to be let out if more length is needed). While the pants are shown on the site with a cuff, that is not permanent. You can flip the material up or down, like you would with any chino-style pant, whether you do or don’t want the cuff. The material seems to hold a cuff nicely (the extra material on the interior likely helps with this). Finally, as far as sizing goes, size down for a slimmer fit, go with your regular size if you want something a bit breezier. Or get one of both.
Either way, check it out! I think it’s the perfect summer pant.
