No, it’s not at all warm enough yet to wear shorts, but such weather is rapidly arriving. And there is no time like the present to start getting prepared! First, a brief step back for a moment.
When it comes to working from home (something I do quite often), I am a big believer in getting out of bed, getting dressed, sitting at your desk (ideally, if possible, in another room of your home entirely) and thusly delineating your day. On the other hand, I am firmly in the camp of not getting too dressed up. Sitting at your desk in a suit and tie is something I just will never quite understand. These days, there is plenty of classy, properly fitting loungewear that getting out of pajamas and into something a bit more put together can still remain a fully “comfy” endeavor. For the cooler months I turn to LuLuLemon for such wear, of course.
In the warmer months, though, I have had a hard time finding that perfect short. Nice enough to feel crisp and clean and put together, but nothing made out of chino. The ideal was always a basketball style short, but made by a brand that understands tailoring a bit better. The fit would be slimmer, the quality impeccable, and the overall aesthetic quite sleek while still remaining entirely comfortable. On a garment such as mesh shorts all such differences are minor, and to the untrained eye perhaps unnoticeable. But all these small changes add up to something significantly different and superior in the end.
Anyways. Enter Aime Leon Dore’s “Logo Gym Short” — And now that I just spent the last 2 paragraphs explaining why these are so great in theory, I can just say here that they are that great in reality as well. If you’re in the market for such a thing, these are the ones to get. Size down for a slim, but comfortable fit. Get your normal size for something a bit baggier. (Beware - you, quite snootily, cannot return to ALD, only exchange, so bear that in mind when ordering.)
