You ever look at someone wearing a super textured, heavy, lambswool sweater and think to yourself: How the heck are they comfortable in that scratchy, itchy, rough mess of a thing? I mean, such sweaters might look fantastic, but it takes a certain person to find them comfortable enough to wear. Or perhaps I am just a baby when it comes to such things. Either way, I still enjoy wearing sweaters but find it uncomfortable without a layer on underneath.
Indeed, the topic of undershirts in general is quite controversial, and ultimately boils down to a personal decision. Interestingly enough, I wear them sometimes, while other times I forgo them. Though, as mentioned at the top, when it comes to sweaters I very often require them (even when they are not the dreaded, scratchy lambswool).
Yet, after all these years, I have not found a better undershirt than the humble (or perhaps not-so-humble?) Uniqlo AIRISM. They’ve gone through a few iterations over the years (and sadly my beloved perforated mesh ones are available in fewer and fewer configurations), but they remain the most comfortable and well-fitting undershirt out there. They now have various versions of their “AIRISM” fabrics, but they all are super stretchy, silky smooth, moisture wicking, and feel cool on the body. I really believe they are the most comfortable bottom-most layer. So, if you’re (ever) into that kind of a thing, I recommend them most highly.
