Whether you’re remotely working with your team or presenting to close a deal, there are a few easy tweaks to your camera and lighting setup to look great on your next video conference. No matter your camera or choice of software here are some tips to ensure you look your best:
Dress to Impress
Just as we recommended in our Surviving Work From Home tips, make sure you’re dressing as you would for any other work day. Maybe now you can keep the sweatpants on underneath the camera, but keeping your grooming routine will set you up for success and looking your best.
Lighting!
Once you look your best, you need to make sure people can see it! Position your camera so that any natural light is lighting your face, not directly at the camera.
If you need to supplement natural light, then ring lights are perfect options for even lighting. You can go full size, laptop, or even portable.
Built in Camera Tricks
Zoom offers a virtual Touch-Up option in the camera settings and other platforms have a camera soften option, but you don’t want to ruin that great lighting you just setup!
Virtual Backgrounds can help blur or hide any unwanted background decor you don’t want to reveal — this does require good lighting as the camera needs to detect your face and body easily.
