Disclaimer: Bluffworks was kind enough to send us this tee shirt for free for the purposes of this review.
This is going to be a quicker review than usual as there is not that much one can really possibly say about a tee shirt. Bluffworks, for those unfamiliar, is a company famous for making some truly great tech-wear garments. They were one of the first, and remain amongst the best. We have taken a look at both their washable suit (yes, you read that right), and their travel jeans before in the past, and liked them both pretty well. Recently they released a tee shirt ($45) , with some of their great tech-fabric knowledge, and we were excited to take a look.
The style and design is clean, simple, and plain. It is textbook definition of tee shirt. There are your basic colors, but nothing much beyond that (though they do have a red). I wish they had some more colors, though I expect this to be coming down the line if these do well. I also wish they offered v-neck options or pockets as an option as well. Both those possibilities would be a nice, great way to round out their line.
Quality is, as ever, quite good. The shirt is super comfortable, stretchy, and breathable. Around the house, it is the first thing I reach for ever since receiving it. It truly is a pleasure to wear, and one of the most comfortable tee shirts I have ever owned. It has held up well through multiple washes (though I do not machine dry clothing usually), and has hardly shrunk at all. No other signs of wear or tear are visible. It’s well-made, wicks moisture well, and is, as far as quality is concerned, quite fantastic.
The fit, I think, needs some work. I went with a Medium Slim and find it to be a bit big overall. For a slim shirt, it’s baggy around the midsection (you can especially see this when tucked in), and could strand to come in a bit in the sleeves’ armhole opening as well. It’s not a bad fit by any means, but it has significant room for improvement. Especially on a slim model, this should be slimmer overall. However, as stated, it makes for a perfect around-the-house tee shirt, which I look forward to throwing on for late afternoons or nights around the house.
Bluffworks Threshold Tee Shirt — $45: We wish the fit was a bit better, and that there were more color or styling options, but as far as the shirt itself, we found it quality, comfortable, and stretchy — and a true pleasure to wear. It’s a bit pricey, but we think it is amongst the more comfortable tees we have tested.
