Overall: We have reviewed BirchboxMan for a bunch of months now, and we think it’s time we give you our final opinion. Overall, we think that BirchboxMan is an excellent and affordable way to test men’s skincare and grooming products. We think that 4-6 months of BirchboxMan is really all you need to find your favorite products, and, when you do, you can easily cancel your membership. The total price for 6 months won’t be more than $60 without any shipping fees. That’s $10 a month.
Experience: It’s all about discovery at an affordable price and BirchboxMan delivers that in spades. There was only one month that I felt that the value wasn’t quite there, but otherwise they have consistently delivered quality items at a very affordable price. Moreover, we have mentioned before that many subscription boxes are a bit deceiving about how they convey the “value” you receive. They will inflate the “true price” of the item, even though it’s not worth anything close to that number. Birchbox does not do this at all. Almost every single one of their products are priced at the actual price that Birchbox has on its listed card. I really like that about Birchbox — they are what they say they are.
Conclusion: So, in summary, your goal for BirchboxMan (from my perspective) is to try it for a few months so that you can get a sense of the male grooming products that are out there on the market, and then choose your favorites/the ones that are best for you to purchase the full-sized version of on your own. Once you do that, you can cancel BirchboxMan and move on. This is not a long-term subscription service, in our opinion, unless you are completely price insensitive. Otherwise, for those on a budget, use it for 6 months as a discovery service, and then move on with just the products you love most.
